  29. <meta content="Open access is a mechanism that maximizes the dissertation of scholarly literature
  30. world wide, by making them accessible without any financial or other barriers on the
  31. Internet. There is a rapid growth in self-archiving articles and publishing them in OA
  32. journals, which brings a great impact in research. This research is conducted to
  33. investigate whether there is an identifiable causal relationship between downloads and
  34. citations of the same articles in an open access repository, as well as the time-varying
  35. behaviours of downloading and subsequent citations if possible. To achieve such
  36. investigation, an automated monitoring web-based system has been developed for
  37. bringing downloading data and citation data together for analysis use. The result
  38. suggests that there is no significant pattern found in terms of all the monitored
  39. documents in the University of Tasmania open access repository, while this is not
  40. always the case if the scope is restricted to only thesis items." name="eprints.abstract" />

  274. world wide, by making them accessible without any financial or other barriers on the&#13;
  275. Internet. There is a rapid growth in self-archiving articles and publishing them in OA&#13;
  276. journals, which brings a great impact in research. This research is conducted to&#13;
  277. investigate whether there is an identifiable causal relationship between downloads and&#13;
  278. citations of the same articles in an open access repository, as well as the time-varying&#13;
  279. behaviours of downloading and subsequent citations if possible. To achieve such&#13;
  280. investigation, an automated monitoring web-based system has been developed for&#13;
  281. bringing downloading data and citation data together for analysis use. The result&#13;
  282. suggests that there is no significant pattern found in terms of all the monitored&#13;
  283. documents in the University of Tasmania open access repository, while this is not&#13;
